Welcome to Beulah's Burger Reviews

Beulah loves hamburgers. Her family visits most of the local restaurants on a regular basis. One of the reasons is to sample and review hamburgers and other fare so that Beulah can make recommendations to local visitors and fishermen on the various restaurants around the Yankeetown/Inglis area. If you're not sure where to go for a Burger in this burg, Beulah's Burger Reviews can help! Beulah has her own rating system - she assigns a number of "paws" to each place she visits. The highest rating in the system is five "paws" and the lowest rating that she assigns is one "paw". Burger joints with a rating of one "paw" will not be shown on the site.

Riverside Inn

The Riverside Inn is located in Inglis on the East side of US 19 South of the intersection with SR 40. The restaurant is now closed with a "For Sale" sign posted. It is unfortunate that this restaurant did not "make it" because the area needs a good restaurant to replace the closed Izaak Walton restaurant at 63th Street and Riverside Drive.

Hickory Island

"Preserving Florida's Southern Spirit"

This restaurant is located on Hiway 19 just South of the stoplight at SR 40 in Inglis. The restaurant is under new ownership and they have renovated and really freshened up the place. They claim that they offer fresh Gulf area seafood from their own boats. They are open for breakfast and lunch every day, and in the evening on Thurs-Sat. The fresh seafood is good and tthis will draw the crowds and become a very popular restaurant in the area. Beulah's family has tried the fresh mullet and it is excellent. There is a very good salad bar with boiled shrimp, and ususally three kinds of soup. The service is a little shaky at times, but this should improve. They also have the Lighthouse Lounge with drink specials and there is live entertainment on the weekends. This promises to be the best seafood restaurant in the area. Their telephone number is: 352-447-2520.

Dan's Clam Stand

Dan's Clam Stand is located on Highway 44 in Crystal River. Beulah loves Dan's Clam Stand burgers. Four "paws" is almost as good as it gets. When the family goes to Dan's, Beulah waits anxiously in the car for her burger. After a short "pout" to punish her folks for not taking her inside, she finishes off her burger quickly. Beulah's family enjoys and highly recommends Dan's  seafood.  There are usually several offerings of fresh local fish. Tel (352) 795-9081

Izaak Walton Restaurant

Izaak Walton Restaurant is located at 63rd and Riverside Drive in Yankeetown. The building was originally built in 1924 and burned in 1999. Reopened in 2001, at one time it was the best restaurant in Citrus and Levy Counties. The service was excellent and the fare creative and of gormet quality. Sadly, the restaurant closed at the end of May 2006. The property has been purchased, and we have heard that the new owners will substantially improve the facilities. Opening date to be announced. No rating at this time.

Gobblers Eatery

Gobblers Eatery is located on the West side of U.S. 19 about one block North of the stop light at the intersection with SR 40. This was the former site of the Muddy River Cafe. They are open daily from 6:30 AM until 9:00 PM. The new owners have painted and spruced up the place. Gobblers is a very popular place for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.  If you are fan of "All You Can Eat" specials, this is the place for you. There is an AUCE special every day except for Sunday. The fare offered ranges from Spaghetti to Shrimp. Recently the food has improved substantially so Beulan gives this restaurant a three paw rating. Tel. (352)447-2555

Our Pub

Our Pub is a very popular hangout with the local residents. It is located on the North side of Highway 40 about 2 miles West of the intersection with US 19. They are open for lunch and dinner every day except Tuesday. Beulah especially likes their large burgers. There is a full service bar, a pool table and dart boards. Our Pub really rocks on weekend nights with the local fishermen, shrimpers, crabbers, other locals and weekenders. They have an active "take out" service as well. The only negative is that the service is rather slow, but so what? You can always have a few beers while you wait. The burgers are great but the seafood offerings are sometimes frozen. Since slow service does not bother Beulah, she gives the burgers at Our Pub a four paw review for burgers; however, because of the service and the seafood, we must give an overall rating of only two. Tel. (352) 447-2406

Yankeetown General Store

The Yankeetown General Store is located at 6611 W Highway 40 about 4 miles West of US 19. It is under new ownership with owner John Stevens and Manager April Colton. It is on the South side of the road between 65th and 67th Streets  It is the last stop before the ramp at the West end of SR40. The YGS is a place where you are immediately comfortable when you walk in. You can buy gas, bait, ice, fishing tackle, and many other items needed by the fisherman.  As far as food is concerned, they offer the best fried chicken in the entire area. Hours are 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM mon-Fri, and 5:00 AM to 6:00 Pm on the weekends. The YGS also makes great sandwiches. A lot of fishermen pick up chicken or have a "to go" lunch made while they are gassing up their boat and buying bait and ice. You can also call ahead and have the lunch waiting. Tel. (352) 447-2532.
